Thanksgiving Break Reflection

Over the break, my brother’s family came over from North Carolina to visit us for this Thanksgiving break. On Monday evening, we picked them up from the airport, and that’s when the adventure began. We drove around, showing them different parts of the city, as they were fascinated by all the city lights. The next morning, we spoiled them with a big breakfast, as my mother made her special scrambled eggs, and I made pancakes. The day consisted of exploring OB, PLNU, Cabrillo and trying out fish tacos for the first time. They loved it all. My youngest niece was so inquisitive about everything, while just learning to talk and just being adorable, I found her being the center of most of my pictures taken.

As the week went on, we explored Old Town and Balboa Park, found our way around the Zoo and offered their first ever Miguel’s experience. Although the week was overall positive, the family can get a little tiring over time. My niece being 12 years old, only about 6 years younger than me, found it easy to annoy me over the long week. Let’s just say my patience wore pretty thin, haha! But ces’t la vie, the trip was great for them, and that is what really matters. As Thanksgiving rolled around, our family came together, attacking the kitchen with our own dishes for the big meal that day. During Thanksgiving, we played games, ate amazing food and shared what we were thankful for (a little cheesy but that's okay).

During the last couple of days, we explored the beaches of La Jolla and Encinitas and found new places that I didn’t even know of. I watched as my nieces played in the ocean of Carlsbad and gleefully carried parts of the beach back with them, all the way into the car, as per usual. We enjoyed new board games, movies and just relaxing while I played for them a couple of my original pieces on the ukulele. Thanksgiving break was so fun and eventful for everyone, and I’m super blessed to have had that time with my family!
